"Lady Lazarus" is the story of Calliope Bird Morath, "the most famous poet in America, perhaps the most famous poet in American history." She is also the daughter of Brandt Morath, a famous punk rocker who committed suicide when she was very young. In this excerpt, a music journalist writing her biography recalls the first time he met Brandt Morath.
